Longtime L.J. Alleman Middle School Principal Kathy Aloisio is moving to the central office as the new director of elementary schools effective Sept. 14.
Aloisio replaces Karen Williams, who was appointed to the position at the end of June. Williams is transferring to a classroom teacher job at Lafayette Middle School and previously served as the school system’s academic director — a position eliminated as part of new Superintendent Donald Aguillard’s reorganization plan.
For the past 10 years, Aloisio has been principal at Alleman. During her tenure as principal, Alleman has maintained an A letter grade based on state accountability standards, and the school was selected as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 2009 — an honor the school shared with only 31 other middle schools across the country for dramatic gains in closing the achievement gap.
Her prior administrative experience was as assistant principal at Comeaux High and Northside High. She has teaching experience at Acadiana High, Lafayette High and Comeaux High.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from Nicholls State University, and a master’s degree and more than 30 additional hours of graduate credit at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
