LAFAYETTE — A Lafayette Parish school system substitute bus driver was suspended Monday pending an investigation of a report that a 10-year-old student was left on the school bus at the end of the afternoon route, said Angela Morrison, school district spokeswoman.
The student had fallen asleep and exited the bus when the driver stopped to run a personal errand, Morrison said.
A neighbor noticed the student and called the parent, who located the student, she said.
The student was not injured, she said.
The driver is a Lafayette Parish school system transportation office employee who also fills in as needed as a substitute driver due to the shortage of substitutes, Morrison said.
