Students at Alice Boucher Elementary will welcome Renee White as their new principal in a few weeks.

White recently was announced as the school system’s choice for the job that’s been vacant since mid-June when former Principal Annette Samec became the district’s chief academic officer.

White was most recently an assistant principal at Carencro High School and, prior to a move to the Lafayette Parish School System, taught in Iberia Parish. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southern University, a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a master’s degree in education from Nicholls State University.

Three other schools — Paul Breaux Middle, Lafayette Middle and Acadian Middle — also will get new principals.

Principal Loretta Caldwell is retiring from Paul Breaux Middle, while Linda Nance is retiring as principal at Acadian. Nance came out of retirement to be a part of the administrative team at Northside High, then opted in 2013 to apply to return to Acadian Middle, where she was last principal prior to her retirement.

Applications for both of those positions will be accepted until July 20.

The school system is also still accepting positions through July 15 for the principal job at Lafayette Middle School following former Principal Donald Thornton’s selection as the new principal of Lafayette High.

Thornton replaces retiring Principal Patrick Leonard.
