The Lafayette Parish School Board may select a new superintendent Wednesday night after members wrap up interviews with the three candidates.
The board’s agenda was amended before noon Tuesday, and it now includes language that allows the board to not only interview, but select a superintendent during its special board meeting Wednesday.
Initially, the agenda specified the three candidates would be interviewed during the meeting.
The board planned to interview St. Mary Parish Schools Superintendent Donald Aguillard, Associate Superintendent of Schools in East Baton Rouge Parish Carlos Sam and Louisiana Department of Education network leader Francis Touchet Jr.
However, Sam was selected Tuesday as superintendent for East Feliciana Parish schools.
The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. and each candidate is expected to have a total of an hour and 20 minutes before the board — an hour of questioning and 10 minutes each for candidate opening and closing remarks.
The agenda was also amended to allow for the board to enter executive session, if needed, to discuss the “work history and professional competency” of the applicants. The interviews will be held in public.
