A Fender Stratocaster electric guitar autographed by country music superstar Blake Shelton and customized with a Ragin’ Cajuns motif is among the items that will be available at the live auction during the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association’s 2015 Spring Gala on Saturday.
Other items to be auctioned off include a gourmet dinner for eight prepared by Sue Zemanick, executive chef at New Orleans’ Gautreau’s Restaurant and recipient of the 2014 James Beard Award for Best Chef-South. She was also featured on the “Top Chef Masters” series on Bravo TV network.
Also up for grabs is a trip to New York City to attend a taping of celebrity chef Rachael Ray’s TV show; a trip to the 2015 U.S. Open Championship golf tournament in June in University Place, Washington; an overnight guided teal hunt; and a catered dinner for three couples with UL-Lafayette President Joseph Savoie and his wife, Gail, at their on-campus home.
The gala is from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the newly renovated Student Union, 620 McKinley St. Proceeds benefit the maintenance and improvements to the Alumni Center.
In addition to the live auction, the gala features food, entertainment and a silent auction.
The event also honors real estate developer Dwight Andrus Jr., a 1956 graduate and longtime university supporter.
