LAFAYETTE — The Shakespearean tragedy “Macbeth” takes the stage in Lafayette next week as part of the Performing Arts Society of Acadiana’s 2011-12 performance series.

The Aquila Theatre Company presents “Macbeth” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Heymann Performing Arts Center. Prior to the performance at 6:30 p.m., cast members will be available for a pre-show “Creative Conversation” in the mezzanine.

Tickets are available through The Heymann Center Box Office or University of Louisiana at Lafayette students and faculty receive 50 percent off, with a valid UL ID. Group discounts are also available.

Special daytime performances for middle and high school students will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Heymann. Student tickets are $7, and spots are still available Contact PASA at (337) 237-2787, ext. 201 for more information.

Cast members will also present a master class at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Burke Hall. The event is hosted by ULL’s School of Performing Arts.

The free acting workshop includes exercises with masks, discovering emotions and more, all focused on the themes of homecoming and the return of the warrior.

Participants should wear comfortable, loose clothing and be prepared for basic movement. U.S. veterans are encouraged to attend.
