LAFAYETTE - The Lafayette Parish school system will close its online survey about desired qualifications for the next superintendent and what the district's priorities should be at noon Friday.

The survey can be found at survey.

For the past six weeks, the public has had the opportunity to share views on the superintendent search during community forums at the district's high schools. The final forum was Thursday night at Comeaux High. Feedback from the survey and forums will be used to devise questions for job candidates.

The School Board plans to select a new superintendent by Dec. 7 to replace Burnell Lemoine, who plans to retire when his contract expires at the end of the year.

Of the 32 people who applied for the position, 26 applicants possessed the appropriate credentials.

Only 10 will be interviewed for the job. The School Board has not scheduled a meeting to select the interview candidates. Those interviews are scheduled for mid-October.
