LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Parish School System announced a critical shortage of K-12 classroom teachers on Wednesday to open the doors to fill the vacancies with retirees, if needed.
School begins for students on Aug. 12.
Below is a list of the advertised critical shortage positions:
•3 positions requiring 5th grade elementary education certification
•3 positions requiring middle school science certification
•2 positions requiring high school physical science certification
•9 positions requiring middle school & high school math certification
•1 position requiring high school chemistry certification
•2 positions requiring middle school ELA or English 5-12 certification
•9 positions requiring special education mild/moderate or similar certification
•4 positions requiring high school social studies certification
•3 positions requiring vocal music certification
•1 position requiring hearing impaired certification
•1 position requiring high school business education certification
•1 position requiring special education early interventionist certification
