The Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and other partner organizations will release a “Common Vision for Our Future,” a plan for public education in Lafayette Parish, during an event from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the LITE Center, 537 Cajundome Blvd.

The plan is based on feedback from roundtable discussions held in March.

The nine partner organizations who organized the moderated roundtable sessions are 100 Black Men of Greater Lafayette, the705, Community Foundation of Acadiana, Concerned Citizens for Good Government, Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, Greater Southwest Louisiana Black Chamber of Commerce, State of Greater Black Lafayette, United Way of Acadiana and the Upper Lafayette Economic Development Foundation.

During the Thursday event, community leaders will elaborate on why a community vision is important to the future of Lafayette schools and the next steps in its implementation.
