Frigid temperatures and the threat of icy road conditions closed schools in Lafayette Parish and surrounding parishes Tuesday.

Lafayette Parish School System officials said they will continue to monitor the weather, however, classes are expected to resume Wednesday.

Classes in Acadia, St. Martin, St. Landry and Vermilion parishes also closed Tuesday. Private, parochial and charter schools also have announced closures for Tuesday.

Schools in Evangeline Parish were closed Monday and will remain closed Tuesday.

LSU Eunice was also closed Tuesday.
