Acadia General now tobacco-free campus
CROWLEY — Acadia General Hospital became a tobacco-free campus effective Thursday, in observation of the American Cancer Society’s annual “Great American Smoke Out.”
The “Smoke Out” is observed annually on the third Thursday of November as a way to encourage smokers to make a plan to quit and take an important step toward a healthier lifestyle. On Thursday, a regional representative from the American Cancer Society was on the hospital campus to share information about smoking cessation.
“By policy, all tobacco products are now prohibited on AGH campus. This policy is intended to protect the health of non-tobacco users and to provide support and encouragement to those who wish to quit by offering assistance,” hospital officials said in a news release.
