LAFAYETTE — The United Way of Acadiana’s Early Head Start, Early Learning Centers in Vermilion and Lafayette parishes are accepting applications for limited openings.

The Lafayette center, 1515 Jefferson St., is for families living in the 70501 ZIP code. Services are open to families living in Vermilion Parish at the center, 802 S. St. Valerie St., in Abbeville.

Both centers offer on-site early childhood education programs to qualifying families with infants and toddlers up to 3 years old and prenatal services to women.

Applications for enrollment will be taken at the centers on the following dates: Lafayette: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; Abbeville: 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7 and May 9

Parents must bring the parent’s identification card and the child’s birth certificate, Social Security card and immunization record. If applicable, parents must bring medical proof of child’s disability and medical proof of pregnancy, if the woman is applying for prenatal services.

Parents must also bring applicable documentation of proof of income or student verification, such as income tax form 1040, W-2 form, TANF documentation, at least four pay check stubs, unemployment documentation, written statement from employers, foster care reimbursement, SSI documentation, notarized documentation of no income, food stamp printout, SSI/SS award letter, financial aid award letter and proof of residence, such as a utility bill or copy of a lease.
