The search is on for a new principal to lead Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy through its second year of operation in the northern part of the parish.

The charter school’s founding principal, LaTonia Harris, resigned, and its board of trustees meets Thursday to discuss recruiting a new leader for the school.

The school is managed by Charter Schools USA, a Florida-based charter school management company that also opened another school, Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy, in Youngsville in August 2014.

Before joining the company last year, Harris had 16 years of experience as an educator with nine years in administration in traditional public schools in Florida.

The schools’ board of trustees meeting is at 6 p.m. Thursday at Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy, 600 Savoy Road, Youngsville.
