Lafayette schools try to meet need for more English as a Second Language classes _lowres

The outside lanes of Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette between Johnston Street and the Vermilion River bridge are closed due to high water.

The state Department of Transportation and Development announced the closure at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The closure is in effect until further notice.

The Lafayette Parish School System will dismiss students early today due to bad weather, the school system announced Wednseday morning.

High schools will dismiss at 12:30 p.m., elementary schools will dismiss at 1:15 p.m., and middle schools will dismiss at 2:00 p.m..

Students will be fed lunch before dismissal.
