BREAUX BRIDGE — No. 15-seeded Breaux Bridge compiled 304 yards of offense en route to a 41-14 win over West Ouachita, advancing to quarterfinal round of the Class 4A playoffs.
QB Drake Guidry and WR Javin Derouselle connected on TD passes of 54, 36 and 33 yards for Breaux Bridge (7-4). Guidry completed 5-of-6 passes for 159 yards and rushed for a 2-yard TD.
Xavrian Antoine and Ruben Hypolite added 2-yard runs to round out the scoring for Breaux Bridge.
For West Ouachita (7-4), Joseph Tassin rushed 2 yards and Andrew Lockhart scored a 25-yard TD for the Chiefs’ two scores.
RAYNE 36, LEESVILLE 32: Justin Reed’s three second-quarter TD passes lifted No. 14 Rayne over No. 19 Leesville.
A 13-yard rushing TD by Moses Tolbert gave Leesville (6-5) a 14-7 lead before Reed connected with Trevon Fontenot for 62-yards to the tie the game.
Then, Reed connected with both Fontenot and Devonte Robinson for 10-yard TDs and the Wolves led 27-14 into halftime.
Leesville’s Caden Wheeler completed a 32-yard pass to Cory McCoy and added a two-point conversion with 2:27 left in the game to cut Rayne’s lead to eight. But Donavan Cormier returned the kickoff 43 yards to the end zone only seconds late to secure the win for Rayne (9-2).
PLAQUEMINE 21, McDONOGH (35) 14: Tyler Wesley scampered 9 yards on a fake punt in the fourth quarter to extend a late Plaquemine drive and quarterback D’morea Wicks found Louis Conerly from 36 yards out for the go-ahead touchdown to lift No. 1 seeded Plaquemine to a win against No. 32 seed McDonogh 35.
The win sends the Green Devils on the road to Lutcher next week after the Bulldogs defeated DeRidder 41-14.
CHURCH POINT 42, BRUSLY 7: Church Point, the No. 2 seed, used its running game to cruise past Brusly in the bidistrict round.
Church Point (10-1) 415 yards of offense were all rushed, and Christain Veronie led the way with 180 yards for two TDs of four and two yards. Deion Monroe added 163 yards and a 3-yard TD while Frederick Williams pitched in two TDs, one for 23 yards and the other for two. Grant Sonnier added a fumble recovery in the third quarter for the Bears.
Zavian Bell caught a 45-yard pass from Connor Manola midway through the fourth quarter for Brusly’s only TD. Manola completed 11 of 20 passes for 176 yards, and Bell caught seven passes for 103 yards and rushed for 97 yards for the No. 31 Panthers (3-8)
WEST FELICIANA 35, WESTLAKE 6: Class 3A No. 5 West Feliciana piled on 35 points in three quarters to move past No. 28 Westlake.
Ryan Reed finished with 153 all-purpose yards and rushed 36 yards for TD. Reed also connected 38 yards with Jazz Ferguson to open scoring for the Saints (9-2).
R.C. Carmenia and Desmond Wilson finished with 80 and 60 yards, respectively, and one TD each. Carmenia rushed 42 yards for his while Desmond Wilson rushed seven yards.
Steven Franks pitched in a 14-yard score to round out the scoring.
Jaden Morgan rushed in a 9-yard TD for Westlake (2-9) in the fourth quarter.
