LAFAYETTE — The first of two days of high school bowling biregional play arrives Monday as Lafayette Lanes hosts teams from Lafayette, Lake Charles, Morgan City, Houma/Thibodaux, Alexandria and Shreveport/Bossier City.

Four Lafayette-area schools will be in action, looking to advance to the state semifinals held April 8 in Baton Rouge. Lafayette High will have both its boys/coed and girls teams in the competition along with the Comeaux and Acadiana boys/coed squads and the Teurlings Catholic girls.

Lafayette High is the No. 3 seed in the boys/coed bracket, and its girls are the No. 2 seed. Both teams need to win matches at 1 and 3:30 p.m. to advance to the semifinals.

In the boys/coed bracket, Acadiana (No. 13 seed) and Comeaux (No. 6 seed) will have to win three matches starting at 10:45 a.m. to get through to the semifinals. Vandebilt Catholic, a former state champion, is the No. 1 seed; H.L. Bourgeois is second.

On the girls side, Teurlings Catholic is in a 10:45 a.m. match as the No. 6 seed. Parkway is the No. 1 seed and Ellender the No. 3 seed as the other teams with byes.

The biregional for Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Hammond is Tuesday at All-Star Lanes in Baton Rouge.
