Teurlings Catholic will have to wait yet another day to try to earn a trip back to the Fast Pitch 56 state softball tournament.
The Rebels’ scheduled second-round playoff game against Belle Chasse was postponed Friday because of severe weather. Teurlings Catholic rescheduled the game for 10 a.m. Saturday at home before moving it to St. Thomas More. The thunderstorms that blanketed the area Saturday morning, though forced the two teams to postpone the game.
No. 2 Teurlings will play No. 15 Belle Chasse at 3 p.m. Sunday on the turf field at St. Thomas Aquinas in Hammond. The winner will face No. 26 Bolton in the Class 4A quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Friday on Field No. 16 at Frasch Park in Sulphur.
Teurlings Catholic is eyeing a return to the Fast Pitch 56 for the first time since 2013, when the program advanced to the state championship game, falling to rival St. Thomas More 6-4.
