Sacred Heart-VP (2-5, 1-2) at West St. Mary (1-6, 1-3)

Last year: Did not play

The buzz: West St. Mary — whose only win is against a winless Jeanerette squad — was the latest poor team to get caught up in the shredder that is the Notre Dame offense in a 61-0 road loss last week. The Wolfpack has been outscored 265-28 in its six losses this season. But you know what Notre Dame did the week before beating West St. Mary 61-0? It beat Sacred Heart by the same score. Sacred Heart has lost three straight by a combined score of 134-7. Both teams are reeling going into this matchup.

St. Martinville (4-3, 1-0) at Abbeville (3-4, 0-2)

Last year: Did not play

The buzz: St. Martinville followed its big win against Breaux Bridge by losing a home game to District 3-5A opponent Comeaux. It’ll try to bounce back and stay above .500 against an Abbeville team that has cooled after a hot start. The Wildcats struggled on both sides of the ball in losses to Cecilia and Breaux Bridge, two of the better teams in the district. An Abbeville win would put Cecilia squarely in the district driver’s seat.
