LAFAYETTE – Louisiana-Lafayette guard Jaylyn Gordon has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules, women’s basketball coach Garry Brodhead confirmed Tuesday morning.

Gordon has been a huge part of the Cajuns early season success so far. She’s averaging 14.9 points per game, second on the team behind Keke Veal’s 15.4 average, as has knocked down a Sun Belt Conference-best 39 3-pointers this season.

She was recently named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after averaging 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in the Cajuns wins against Georgia Southern and Georgia State. It was her second time earning that honor this season.

Gordon is also leading the team in minutes played at 33.8 per game. She played all 40 minutes of Saturday’s game against Troy, during which she scored 20 of her game-high 23 points in the second half to cap a furious rally that resulted in a three-point win.

Gordon currently ranks No. 7 in the SBC in both scoring and steals per game, and is also ranked No. 3 in assist to turnover ratio.
