UL-Lafayette: K Hunter Stover

By the numbers: 15-18 FG, 42-45 PAT, 38 long

The skinny: In his first year handling the Cajuns’ regular placekicking duties, Stover has been remarkably consistent, hitting every one of his attempts inside 40 yards. He didn’t get many shots at the longer field goals, and he has the leg to kick them, but he hasn’t been able to hit a long one through the uprights.

Nevada: K Brent Zuzo

By the numbers: 13-17 FG, 43-45 PAT, 45 long

The skinny: Zuzo, a sophomore from Michigan, has some leg and is accurate from deep, connecting on 8 of 9 from 40-49 yards in his career. But he struggles with midrange field goals, where he made just 1 of 3 attempts from 30-39 yards this season.

The verdict

If anybody knows the importance of a solid kicker in this game, it’s the Cajuns, who’ve won two of their three straight New Orleans Bowl titles on last-minute field goals. While this particular matchup is incredibly close, the Wolf Pack can confidently strut their kicker out for a game-winning 45-yarder. Can the Cajuns do the same? That remains to be seen.

Advantage: Nevada
