ATLANTA — Shellie Landry hit her 50th career home run, and Alex Stewart and Victoria Brown combined for the pitching staff’s 15th shutout as the No. 5 University of Louisiana at Lafayette softball team beat Georgia State 12-0 in five innings Sunday at Bob Heck Field.

Landry’s 3-run homer was the highlight of a six-run outburst for the Ragin’ Cajuns (32-3, 13-1 Sun Belt) in the second inning.

The Cajuns completed a three-game sweep of the Panthers (19-22).

UL-Lafayette had 10 hits, led by two apiece from Haley Hayden (2-for-4, 2 runs), Taylor Terrio (2-for-3, 1 RBI) and Aleah Craighton (2x2, homer, 2 runs). Kelsey Vincent and Craighton each hit solo home runs.

Stewart (17-1, 8-0) limited Georgia State to two hits in four innings.

DJ Sanders, Kara Gremillion and Terrio each had an RBI in a five-run fourth inning that included five walks and helped the Cajuns ice the game.

UL-Lafayette plays a nonconference series at No. 2 Florida next weekend in Gainesville, Florida. The Cajuns and Gators are scheduled for a noon (CDT) doubleheader Saturday and a noon single game Sunday.
