TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Shannon Hale scored 18 points to help Alabama beat the Louisiana-Lafayette men’s basketball team 105-93 on Friday night.
Hale made 6 of 12 field goals, including 5 of 6 from 3-point range.
Alabama (2-1) shot 56.3 percent from the field in the first half and 54.2 percent (32-59) overall. The Crimson Tide made 8 of 11 from behind the arc in the first half and 15 of 25 overall.
Riley Harris and Justin Coleman scored 18 points apiece for Alabama while Retin Obasohan made 4 of 5 from 3-point range and scored 17 points before fouling out. Arthur Edwards added 12 points and Dazon Ingram scored 10.
Shawn Long led the Cajuns with 25 points and 14 rebounds as he became the Cajuns’ all-time leading rebounder. Long, who recorded the 54th double-double of his career, tipped in a Steven Wronkoski miss with 5:47 left for his 1,065th career rebound, passing former Ragin’ Cajuns standout Roy Ebron (1,064 from 1971-73) as the school’s all-time leader.
The Ragin’ Cajuns (1-2) shot 45.9 percent (28 of 61) from the field and 65 percent (26 of 40) from the free throw line. They hit 11 3-pointers.
The Cajuns host Loyola of New Orleans at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Cajundome.
