LAFAYETTE — Unfavorable field conditions brought on by numerous showers throughout the day Saturday resulted in the cancellation of the opening day of No. 5 Louisiana-Lafayette’s Sun Belt Conference-opening series with South Alabama at Lamson Park.
The Ragin’ Cajuns (17-1) and Jaguars (10-8) will play at 1 p.m. doubleheader Sunday to complete the series.
The game will be carried ESPN 1420-AM, and a live web stream will be available for purchase on RaginCajuns.com.
The teams were originally scheduled to play a 2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, which was later reduced to a 6:30 p.m. single game when the cancellation of Saturday’s action.
Individual game tickets purchased for Saturday’s games will be refunded at the point of purchase of tickets for Sunday’s games at the Lamson Park ticket booth, or at origin of purchase (Cajundome Box Office, TicketMaster outlet or TicketMaster.com).
Louisiana-Lafayette will hold a “Daddy-Daughter Day” promotion for Sunday’s doubleheader. Dads and daughters can purchase a $4 general admission ticket for an outfield seat. They will receive a voucher for free popcorn and have the opportunity to play catch on the field after the second game.
