STARTING PITCHERS: UL-Lafayette, Fr. RH Wyatt Marks (6-1, 3.25) vs. Rice, Jr. LH Blake Fox (8-2, 3.34)

WHAT TO WATCH: The regional opener sets up as Cajuns power hitting against solid Owl pitching, but each is a lot more than that. UL-Lafayette’s young mound corps has improved over the past six weeks, with a team ERA under three in the second half of the season, while Rice’s lack of true power belies a team that ranks in the top 25 nationally in hitting. The Cajuns have been hot, while a Rice team that dominated Conference USA is only 2-4 in its last six games.
