Ragin’ Cajuns will play at Kentucky in 2015, Athletic Director Scott Farmer says _lowres

Associated Press file photo -- Kentucky fans didn't allow a brief shower in the second half dampen their spirits in a NCAA college football game against Ohio in Lexington, Ky., Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014. Kentucky will host Louisiana-Lafayette next season, Ragin' Cajuns Athletic Director Scott Farmer said Tuesday.

UL-Lafayette’s 2015 football schedule became a little clearer Tuesday, as Athletic Director Scott Farmer announced that the Cajuns would travel to face the University of Kentucky next season.

Farmer announced the news to KPEL-AM, 1420, telling host Jay Walker that the Wildcats would serve as the Cajuns’ “money game” next season. The Cajuns received $925,000 from Ole Miss to play in Oxford, Mississippi, last weekend in this season’s money game.

Farmer said in the interview that UL-Lafayette aims for figures near the $1 million range in so-called “money games.”

Next year will be the first meeting between the Ragin’ Cajuns and Kentucky. After last week’s 56-15 loss to Ole Miss, the Ragin’ Cajuns are 0-38 all-time against Southeastern Conference teams.

The Cajuns still have one more nonconference slot to fill for the 2015 season. Akron and Louisiana Tech are other opponents on their 2015 nonconference schedule.
