UL-Lafayette RB Elijah McGuire

By the numbers: 1,165 yards, 14 TDs rushing; 414 yards, 2 TDs receiving

The skinny: McGuire has done it all for the Cajuns since WR Jamal Robinson went down for the season with an injury against Texas State. McGuire led the team in rushing and receiving, and he was named Sun Belt Player of the Year.

Nevada RB Don Jackson

By the numbers: 932 yards, 7 TDs rushing; 157 yards, 1 TD receiving

The skinny: Jackson came on strong at the end of the season, with three 100-plus yard rushing efforts in the Wolf Pack’s final four games. Jackson is a work-horse back whose better games have come when he has gotten 20 or more carries.

The verdict

With the Cajuns likely keying on QB Cody Fajardo, Jackson could be in line to catch them off guard. But there are few who can match McGuire’s abilities as a playmaker, and the Cajuns will do everything they can to give him every opportunity to blow the game open. Advantage: Cajuns.
