The Ragin’ Cajuns and McNeese State will resume a long-standing rivalry in 2016, the schools announced Thursday.

The two teams will play Sept. 10, 2016 at Cajun Field. It’ll be the first meeting since 2007, when the Cowboys intercepted Cajuns’ quarterback Michael Desormeaux four times and rushed for 276 yards to beat the Cajuns 38-17 at Cajun Field.

McNeese becomes the third non-conference opponent on the Cajuns schedule, to go along with the home-opener against Boise State and a road game against Tulane.

“It shapes up for another outstanding non-conference home schedule,” said UL-Lafayette Director of Athletics Scott Farmer in a news release. “Having a nationally recognized program in Boise State coming here will be very exciting for our fans, and to follow it up with a very respectable in-state program in McNeese State that will bring a lot of fans.

“The atmosphere for both of those games will be outstanding.”
