JONESBORO, Ark. — Jasmine Hunt scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lift Arkansas State to an 87-65 victory over the Louisiana-Lafayette women’s basketball team Saturday at the Convocation Center.
UL-Lafayette (18-11, 10-10), which will be the No. 6 seed in next week’s Sun Belt Conference tournament, will face third-seeded Troy (20-9, 15-5) in the quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at New Orleans’ Lakefront Arena.
Keke Veal scored 16 points to lead five players in double figures for UL-Lafayette, which was 26-for-66 (39.4 percent) from the floor. Gabby Alexander came off the bench to score 13 points while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds, with Jaylyn Gordon adding 11 points.
Kia Wilridge scored 10 points with five steals and four assists, while freshman Simone Fields scored 10 points on 5 of 7 shooting.
A-State, the No. 2 seed in the SBC tournament, built a 46-32 lead at halftime and led 66-41 after Gamble hit a pair of free throws with 9:54 remaining.
