JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — The New Orleans Boosters defeated Johnstown (Paul Carpenter) 4-1 Saturday night to claim the All-American Amateur Baseball Association national championship.
New Orleans scored the first run in the first inning when Justin Nussbaum singled, stole second and scored on a single by Blake Way. In the third, Justin Ory and Way reached on back-to-back singles and scored on Spencer Miller's double to take a 3-0 lead. Miller scored on a Grant Mathews single.
Johnstown's solo run came in the seventh after a leadoff walk, single and a wild pitch.
Starting pitcher Jonathan Ebersole went six innings to pick up the win. Chris Turpin earned the save.
New Orleans went 6-0 in the tournament, and the pitching staff combined for a 1.26 ERA. The victory marks the New Orleans' franchise's 15th AAABA national title with the most recent coming in 2015.
