SAN MARCOS, Texas — The Louisiana-Lafayette baseball team split a doubleheader at Texas State on Saturday at Bobcat Ballpark, winning the first game 11-3 before falling in the nightcap 10-4.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (22-15, 9-7 Sun Belt) and Bobcats (18-19-1, 10-7) will meet in the rubber match at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Texas State was led by center fielder Cory Geisler, who was 5-for-9 with a double, two triples and two RBIs. First baseman Tanner Hill had two home runs and drove in three.

Blake Trahan led the way for the Cajuns, going 5-for-7 with a double and two runs. Trahan extended his conference hit streak to 16 games.

Both Dylan Butler and Stefan Trosclair drove in four runs in the doubleheader. Butler had a double and home run, and Trosclair extended his hit streak in league play to 11 games.

Gunner Leger (4-2) earned his fourth win in Game 1, limiting the Bobcats to two runs on eight hits in five innings with four strikeouts. Will Bacon recorded his first save, holding Texas State to one run on three hits in the final four innings.

Lucas Humpal (4-4) took the loss for the Bobcats after giving up six runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings. Scott Grist improved to 3-3 in Game 2 despite allowing four runs on eight hits in six innings.

Chris Charpentier (2-3) took the loss in the nightcap for the Cajuns; he gave up three runs on three hits and three walks in 1.1 innings. Starter Evan Guillory exited after three innings, giving up four runs on six hits with five strikeouts.

UL-Lafayette took an early lead in Game 1 as Kyle Clement led off the second with a double and then moved to third on a sac bunt by Dylan Butler. Nick Thurman brought Clement home on a ball hit to short.

In the third, the Cajuns put runners on the corners following a single by Trahan that moved Evan Powell to third. With Brian Mills at the plate, Trahan and Powell pulled off a double steal to increase the advantage to 2-0.

Trosclair added three more runs in the fifth as he launched a two-out, three-run homer off Humpal to make it 5-0.

The Bobcats answered with a pair of runs in the bottom half on an RBI triple by Geisler and a sac fly by Cedric Vallieres to cut the lead to 5-2.

The Cajuns tacked on four more in the seventh. Trosclair drew a bases-loaded walk to make it a four-run edge. After a strikeout, Butler delivered a two-out, bases-clearing double.

Joe Robbins added two runs in the eighth on a two-run single. Granger Studdard pushed home the final run with a solo homer in the bottom half.

In Game 2, Texas State got a 3-0 lead in the first on a Studdard RBI infield single and a two-run homer by Tanner Hill.

The Ragin’ Cajuns responded with two runs in the second on a sac fly by Thurman and a two-out single by Greg Davis.

Clement pulled the Cajuns even in the third on his second home run. Butler made it back-to-back homers as he launched a blast to put the Cajuns up 4-3.

Hill responded for Texas State in the bottom half with his second homer of the game, driving a 1-1 pitch off Guillory over the fence to tie it at 4.

The Bobcats regained the lead in the fourth on a Geisler RBI triple off Charpentier. In the fifth, Jared Huber singled in two more runs to extend the Texas State lead to three runs before the Bobcats tacked on three more in the sixth.
