RHP Chris Ellis

OLE MISS

RECORD/ERA: 10-1/2.16

YEAR: Junior

HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-5/205

POSTSEASON: Ellis gave up a first-inning run but settled in for his second complete game in the 12-2 regional opener against Jacksonville State, scattering eight hits and fanning eight.

SCOUTING REPORT: Ellis pounds the zone with a low-90s fastball, has a splitter that dives and can back-door a two-seamer for strikeouts, but it’s his smooth delivery that made him a third-round draft pick.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco: “He has the ability to make good pitches when he needs to. When he has everything working, he can command a game.”

RHP Austin Robichaux

UL-Lafayette

Record/ERA: 7-3/2.83

YEAR: Junior

HEIGHT/WEIGHT: 6-6/170

POSTSEASON: Robichaux picked up a loss he didn’t deserve in the Regional opener against Jackson State, scattering four hits and fanning six in eight innings in the stunning 1-0 Cajuns’ loss.

SCOUTING REPORT: Robichaux’s fastball can get up to 92-94, but it sinks and creates ground balls. He spots pitches well, and a slider he developed over the past two years is now a strikeout pitch.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING: Cajuns coach and dad Tony Robichaux: “We’ve had Austin out of the gate all year. He sets a good tempo and a good tone for us.”
