The third Annual New Orleans Big Top Cake Competition and Bakery Carnival takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum, 1504 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd.
Professionals, home bakers and students will showcase their finest cake decorating techniques to professional judges and the general public. This year's theme is “A Celebration of Time!” as the city of New Orleans is turning 300 and the museum marks its 10th anniversary.
In addition to samples and viewing, there will be cake decorating demonstrations, cake discussions and voting for the people's choice award and favorite bakery carnival treat.
Samples are first come, first served. Attendance to all events of the day is free with museum admission ($10.50 for adults, $5.25 for students, seniors, and military). Winners will be announced at 2 p.m.
