More oppressive heat is on tap Friday, but there may be a few storms in the afternoon again, WBRZ meteorologist Dave Nussbaum says in the station’s daily weather blog.

There will be isolated showers and thunderstorms across the Baton Rouge area just like Thursday. Some of the storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds, hail, heavy rain and plenty of lightning. Not everyone will get the rain.

Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy, very hot and humid with highs in the upper 90s. The heat index will be around 105 degrees, so the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory.

Any storms will dissipate by 9 p.m., and the area will be left with partly cloudy skies and lows in the upper 70s.
