The annual festival of wine and food begins Aug. 22 with the seventh annual Grace “Mama” Marino Lifetime Achievement Award Dinner honoring VinceFerachi.
On Aug. 23, 40 local chefs will compete for medals in the Fête Rouge Chefs Competition. The competition is part of an event called the “Food & Wine Fête, which will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature more than 200 wines from around the world available for tasting. There will also be live entertainment, a silent auction benefitting Girls on the Run of Baton Rouge, tasting of the dishes entered in the chefs’ competition and a raffle of a 200-bottle wine cellar.
A package prize for both Fête Rouge events, the award dinner and the food and wine tasting, is $240. Individual tickets for the awards dinner are $200 per person.

Organized by leaders in the food, beverage and hospitality industry, the nonprofit Baton Rouge Epicurean Society is dedicated to raising local awareness of childhood health and nutrition issues.
Proceeds from this year’s festival will benefit Girls on the Run of Baton Rouge, Boys & Girls Club of Baton Rouge, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Pro-Start culinary high school programs,Epicurean scholarship funding and the cultural preservation of the greater Baton Rouge area.
