The spooky side of astronomy will come out Saturday at BREC’s Highland Road Park Observatory when the facility’s annual family event explores the bizarre side of astronomy, physics and aeronautics just in time for Halloween.
Creepy science demonstrations, eerie stories and celestial-themed activities will be on hand to entertain parents and children, according to a BREC news release.
Telescopes will also be available for viewings. Admission is free for all participants.
The event starts at 8 p.m. and ends at midnight.
Highland Road Park Observatory, 13800 Highland Road, features a 20-inch reflecting telescope, which has discovered more than 50 asteroids and a 16-inch reflecting telescope. The observatory is brought to the public by BREC, LSU’s Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society.
