A 15-year-old girl started a fire inside a closet near the back of a home on Leonidas Drive Monday night, wiping out more than half of the house, according to a Baton Rouge Fire Department news release.
Firefighters have classified the 9:54 p.m. blaze as an arson.
According to the release, after the girl started the fire in a closet at 12225 Leonidas Drive, the blaze grew out of control.
The family members inside the home were able to escape unharmed, according to the release.
The house is considered uninhabitable.
The girl was taken into custody by fire investigators and Baton Rouge Police.
