Employers, experts in labor law, medicine and insurance will gather in Baton Rouge Jan. 23 and Jan. 24 at the second annual Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference.
The conference will be at the Crown Plaza Hotel, 4728 Constitution Ave. The Louisiana Workforce Commission and the nonprofit group, International Workers’ Compensation Foundation, will present the event.
The conference will focus on the major changes to the state’s workers’ comp system, including the implementation of evidence-based medical treatment guidelines. Since the requirement began in July, more than $2.5 million in potential legal costs have been saved, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
“The conference gives a diverse audience an opportunity to share ideas and best practices to help an evolving system operate with integrity and
effectiveness,” LWC Executive Director Curt Eysink said in a news release. “It also provides a platform to keep the industry abreast of the latest developments within the LWC.”
