A warmer winter dropped Entergy Corp.’s fourth-quarter earnings more than 30 percent to $154.1 million, or 87 cents per share, compared with $228.3 million, or $1.26 per share, a year earlier.
For the year, Entergy’s earnings were $1.3 billion, or $7.55 per share, compared to $1.3 billion, or $6.66 per share.
Stock analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters had forecast fourth-quarter earnings of 90 cents per share and $7.53 for the year.
Entergy repeated that the utility expects 2012 earnings in the range of $5.40 to $6.20 per share. The guidance does not reflect any expenses related to Entergy’s sale of its transmission business.
