HOUMA- Members of the Terrebonne Parish Council are asking state wildlife officials to place a bounty on coyotes, The Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Coyotes have become such a problem in some neighborhoods that the Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter has begun contracting with a Baton Rouge nuisance trapper.

On Monday night, a committee of the parish council voted to send a letter to state wildlife officials requesting that a bounty be paid to professional hunters to kill coyotes. Councilman Johnny Pizzolatto said coyotes pose a threat to pets and children.
