Authorities have arrested a Southern University student accused of robbing and beating one student in a campus parking lot at gunpoint and later robbing and beating other students in their dorm rooms last month.

Jason Dorsey, 20, 3926 La. 28 East, Pineville, was booked by the Southern University police with four counts of armed robbery, two counts of illegal carrying of a firearm by a student on school grounds, two counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of illegal possession of stolen things, four counts of felony theft, one count of misdemeanor theft, one count of battery on a peace officer, one count of resisting an officer and one count of simple escape, East Baton Rouge Parish Prison records show.

According to the warrant, Dorsey and two other men went to the Washington Hall parking lot on Jan. 19 and robbed the victim at gunpoint.

Dorsey is accused of beating the armed robbery victim in the face with a .45 caliber semi-automatic weapon , the warrant says .

Following the attack and robbery, Dorsey and one of the other men ran to a blue Nissan Altima with the third man inside waiting and drove off in the east direction of Harding Boulevard, according to the warrant.

Later that night, Dorsey and one of the other men, both dressed with hoods over their heads and bandanas over their faces, allegedly went to the U.S. Jones Hall dormitory. The men banged on two dorm room doors with a gun, the warrant says.

Dorsey and the other man are accused of forcing their way into the two dorm rooms, pointing the gun in the victims’ faces and ordering them to get on the floor , the warrant says .

Two victims tried to run away. One ran off but the other was beaten in the back of the head with the gun, according to the warrant.

Dorsey and the other man allegedly left with laptop computers from both rooms, according to the warrant.

After leaving the dorm, the two men got back into the blue Nissan and drove off. Police stopped the car and arrested the two men and tried to arrest Dorsey.

Dorsey, while being arrested, ran away from police with a handcuff on one arm, the warrant says.
