Daylight-saving time ends Sunday and that’s a good time for residents to change and test the batteries in smoke alarms, Louisiana State Fire Marshal Butch Browning said in a news release.

Residents are encouraged to use the extra hour they “gain” from daylight-saving time this weekend to change the batteries in their own smoke alarms, test the alarms and remind friends, family, neighbors and fellow community members to do the same, the news release says.
