At the regularly scheduled Metro Council meeting at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Government Building downtown, the council will decide whether a $748 million capital improvement tax package will be put to parish voters.

The proposed package is a combination of sales and property taxes. It would include $298 million for public safety improvements including a new Parish Prison, $418 million for infrastructure improvements including a City Hall renovation and drainage improvements as well as $32 million for renovation and expansion of the Baton Rouge River Center.
