Enbridge Inc. says it is investigating the report of natural gas leak in the western Gulf of Mexico, near the path of its pipeline 66 miles off the coast of Cameron Parish.
Alberta, Canada-based Enbridge said a helicopter flyover found a three-foot diameter patch of bubbles on the water's surface near the company's Stingray natural gas pipeline. Enbridge has notified regulators and sent a dive boat to the site.
"If a leak is confirmed as a result of the diving activities, we will immediately begin repairs," Terrance L. McGill said in a news release issued late Tuesday.
The company does not expect the repairs, if needed, to affect earnings.
