The Needy of Greater Baton Rouge recently announced its new local charitable initiative, The St. Nicholas Challenge.
The group has teamed up with the Baton Rouge Society of St. Vincent de Paul for a Christmas season toy drive for homeless and needy children, according to a news release.
For every toy donated to St. Vincent de Paul, the Needy of GBR will donate a new toy.
Toys can be dropped off for children -- infants to 12 years old -- at the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room, 220 St. Vincent de Paul Place or donors can send a financial gift to help with this year’s effort to: St. Vincent de Paul Toy Drive, P. O. Box 127, Baton Rouge, LA 70821.
Financial donations for toys will also be matched by the Needy of GBR. Anyone interested in donating toys can call (225) 383-7837, extension O, for more information.
The Needy of GBR was founded by Mr. J. C. Arceneaux in 1970 to assist the neediest and most vulnerable members of the Baton Rouge community.
