Albemarle Corp., a Baton Rouge-based specialty chemicals maker, will supply base oils to Sao Paulo, Brazil-based Novvi S.A., the maker of renewable petroleum products used by the lubricants industry.

Novvi is a joint venture between two Brazilian companies, Amyris Inc., an integrated renewable products firm, and Cosan Group, a sugar cane and ethanol producer.

Under the deal announced Tuesday, Albemarle’s Fine Chemistry Services Division will serve as a custom scale-up and production partner for synthetic, renewable base oils for the lubricants market.
