Hogs for the Cause, a two-day barbecue contest and concert in City Park that raises money for victims of pediatric brain cancer, has announced its musical lineup for this year’s festival, March 28-29.

“The music festival aspect of this event is huge for us,” cofounder Becker Hall said.

“By being able to secure nationally recognized bands, Hogs for the Cause has been able to grow to a nationally recognized event, bringing in people from all over the country.”

Local talent and regional favorites will be featured on the main stage.

Meanwhile, more than 80 teams of professional and amateur chefs barbecue on the festival grounds. Winners are selected based on how popular their offerings are with diners.

The Friday night music lineup includes the North Mississippi Allstars, Dumpstaphunk and Rosco Bandana.

On Saturday, musical entertainment will be provided by Pat Green, the Hold Steady, Houndmouth, Hurray for the Riff Raff, Benjamin Booker, Colin Lake Band, Shamarr Allen and the Underdawgs, the Treme Brass Band and Naughty Professor.

Hogs for the Cause will feature two stages on the City Park Festival Grounds. The festival opens at 4 p.m. Friday and at 10:30 a.m. Saturday and continues until 10 p.m. both days.

Tickets start at $15; early bird two-day passes are $20. For tickets and information, go to
