Kick off New Year with lifestyle seminar
Touro Infirmary dietitians will lead a free seminar on eating strategies to kick off the New Year with a healthy start Jan. 3 at 5 p.m.
The seminar will be held in the Foucher Room on the second floor of the hospital, 1401 Foucher St.
Learn strategies for weight management and eating habits you can stick with, such as how to monitor serving size and portions and how to track what you eat. The dietitians will also talk about the pros and cons of trendy diets.
Light refreshments will be provided.

Free immunizations in Marrero, Metairie
The Greater New Orleans Immunization Network bus offers free shots to children who lack insurance coverage for vaccinations.
The network also maintains a computerized registry for easy record-keeping.
The bus will be parked:
- Thursday: Wal-Mart, 4810 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Wednesday: Rouses, 6600 Franklin Ave., Gentilly, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Blood center needs donations in Metairie
The Blood Center of Southeast Louisiana is seeking donations of whole blood and platelets.
Visit the center at 3400 16th St., Metairie, on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday from noon to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.; or Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Prime Years at Touro Infirmary will offer a presentation on long term care options Jan. 8 at noon in the Foucher Room of the hospital, 1401 Foucher St.
Topics will include costs and levels of care in assisted and independent living; regulations and requirements of skilled and residential nursing care; insurance issues, resources to help with expenses and a brief history of Touro’s retirement community, Woldenburg Village.
