A portion of Lee Drive will be closed for about four days beginning tonight as crews working on the East Baton Rouge Parish Sanitary Sewer Overflow project will replace a sewerage pipe that runs across Lee and has deteriorated beyond repair.
The road will be closed from 7 p.m. Thursday until 7 p.m. Monday between Blue Bell and Bennett drives on Lee. No vehicles will be allowed through the construction area, according to the city-parish.
The pipe was not originally scheduled to be replaced, but city-parish officials noticed its dilapidated state while other work was being done and officials decided to replace it while there is an opportunity.
Officials have posted a detour route of using LSU and Stanford avenues for travel between Highland and Perkins roads. Stanford also is under construction and delays are expected.
While the section of Lee Drive will be closed for four days, the project is expected to be completed by Aug. 12.
