New Iberia-based American Pollution Control Corp. has completed the oil spill recovery and environmental cleanup on a recovered platform in Terrebonne Parish, according to the company.

The environmental contractor, which has around 200 employees, recovered oil spilled when the downed rig was lifted from the ocean floor and when the platform leaked contaminants while on a containment barge. American Pollution contained the spill and cleaned the barge. The rig was initially moved to Dulac, where company workers did more cleaning on the barge and platform, which was taken to Amelia.
