New Iberia-based American Pollution Control Corp. has been awarded a project to remove 84,000 square feet of asbestos from grain elevators at the Port of Greater Baton Rouge, a news release says.
The project will take about 11 weeks to complete. Eleven workers, trained in asbestos removal, will work on the elevators, which are 180 feet tall.
The work is part of $135 million in improvements that Louis Dreyfus Corp. is making to the port’s grain facility.
American Pollution provides oil spill response and environmental cleanup services.
